President’s Message
Bellewood has provided Kentucky’s most vulnerable youth with a safe haven and an opportunity for a better life for more than 150 years. Our proactive treatment programs seek to change lives and build futures as we teach clients to lead healthy lives and become contributing members of their communities.
We have witnessed an immense number of changes in childcare since we opened our doors in 1849. However, we still find that the youth in our care have come to us because they have been failed by the adults in their lives — the adults who are supposed to love, care and nurture them.
Our youth have suffered some of the worst trauma and living environments imaginable, but we take an active role in their lives with innovative and supportive services that help them overcome their turbulent past. Bellewood’s diverse staff is committed to providing exceptional service to these struggling youth in order to equip them with the tools they need to heal and live healthy lives.
As Bellewood strives to stop the destructive cycles of abuse and neglect, we continually adapts our proactive programs to meet the changing and often difficult demands of clients. Our mission is to provide a continuum of care with start-to-finish programs that help ensure the safety, stability and success of each individual. We have grown from a small charity in Louisville, Kentucky, to a statewide agency with distinguished service.
Our accomplishments would not be possible without the generous support of Bellewood’s many volunteers and donors. We remain forever grateful to those who believe in our mission and proudly carry-on our work with ambition, confidence and strength.
Best regards,

Jerry Cantrell
President and CEO
