The Need:
There is always an intense need for foster parents in Kentucky, and Bellewood warmly welcomes individuals who want to offer our children a safe home and a better life.
Bellewood believes that all children need caring homes where they can grow to become solid adults. Additionally, we take into consideration that very often foster children have specific environmental, emotional and educational needs.
Unlike other programs, Bellewood’s Therapeutic Foster Care offers intense support and training to parents in order to provide foster children in Kentucky with a secure, nurturing home.
Bellewood’s foster children range from infancy to 21 years of age, but the majority of our youth are in their teens. Our program offers specialized training, ongoing support and financial assistance to ensure foster parents continually provide the best care possible to their child.
Who We Need:
We welcome foster parents from across Kentucky and invite those who want to be a part of improving a young person’s life to join our incredible work.
The ideal foster parent is someone who has a desire to work with youth who have been abused or neglected. Foster parents need to have positive parenting skills, patience, stability, maturity, and a love of children. Foster parents work with staff toward identified goals for the children in their care. Parents must be at least 21 years old, submit to criminal background checks and complete 40 hours of training.
Benefits:
- up to $1,600 tax-free compensation monthly
- 24/7 support
- liability insurance
- free, specialized training
- CPR/First Aid Training
